Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU The NEU), once again showcased its academic excellence and competitive spirit as its engineering students emerged victorious in the 2025 Philippine Consortium for Science, Mathematics, and Technology (PCSMT) Quiz Bowl, held on April 2โ4 at the University of Northern Philippines, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
BatStateU The NEU proudly secured the Overall 1st Runner-Up title in this prestigious inter-university competition, which gathered top-performing students from various higher education institutions nationwide to compete in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
In the Physics Category, Red Spartan contenders Josef Nathaniel M. Tan (BS Mechanical Engineering) and Mark Andrew T. Cabile (BS Aerospace Engineering), coached by Dr. Emil C. Alcantara, were hailed as Champion, besting other participants with their mastery of complex concepts and problem-solving strategies.
For the Chemistry Category, Abell A. Alcantara (BS Chemical Engineering) and Shaira Mae Bendaรฑa (BS Chemistry) clinched the 1st Runner-Up spot, guided by his coach, Assoc. Prof. Reygan H. Sangalang. His performance demonstrated the university’s strong foundation in chemical sciences and application-based learning.
In the Mathematics Category, Patrick Angelo P. Montenegro (BS Electronics Engineering) and Neil Joshua M. Lerin (BS Mechanical Engineering), under the mentorship of Dr. Renson A. Robles, secured 2nd Runner-Up honors, proving their analytical rigor and excellence in advanced mathematical computations.
Furthermore, in the Biology Category, Josette Mulingbayan and Jeff Joseph Malanco, both BS Biology students, placed 11th under the guidance of their coach, Ms. Constance Aurelle M. Ramirezโcontributing to BatStateUโs strong overall performance in the national competition.
