UP and Batangas State University Co-host National Replication Workshop Under ERASMUS+ UNICATION Project

Quezon City, Philippines – 30 April 2025 — The University of the Philippines (UP) and Batangas State University (BatStateU) successfully co-hosted the National Replication Workshop for Work Package 5 (WP5) of the ERASMUS+ UNICATION Project on Wednesday, 30 April 2025, at Microtel by Wyndham, UP Technohub.

As the lead institution for WP5, UP, in collaboration with BatStateU, organized the workshop to adapt and replicate the methodologies and strategies derived from the international training held at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon, Portugal, in November 2024. This capstone activity marks a major milestone in the Philippine implementation of the UNICATION project, aiming to institutionalize sustainable and inclusive internationalization practices.

Rooted in the theme of “IZN@Home, Inclusivity, and Capacity Building,” the event empowered International Relations Officers (IROs) from various Philippines Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) with a more inductive and contextualized approach to developing their own Internationalization Toolkits. By customizing strategies to suit institutional priorities, the workshop enabled participants to foster globally engaged campuses and bridge existing gaps in internationalization efforts.

The participants actively engaged in sessions focused on institutional self-assessment, strategic planning, and collaborative innovation. By the end of the program, each PHEI developed a preliminary roadmap for implementing their tailored internationalization strategies, further cementing their role in regional and global academic networks.

This National Replication Workshop serves as a model for how international training can be meaningfully localized, offering a path forward for building stronger, more globally connected higher education institutions in the Philippines.
